Foundation Welcomes New Executive Director

It is our pleasure to announce that Alyssa Long has been appointed Executive Director of the New Brunswick Medical Education Foundation. In partnership with our esteemed Board of Directors, she will work diligently to enact our vision and raise the profile of the New Brunswick Medical Education Foundation.

Alyssa brings seven years of corporate communications, stakeholder engagement and leadership experience to the role, having held prior positions with J.D. Irving, Limited and Moosehead Breweries Limited. In addition, she has demonstrated ability and experience driving diverse collaborative efforts and cultivating high-capacity relationships with leaders in the corporate, public, and non-profit sectors.

As Executive Director, Alyssa will champion the Foundation’s unique mission of investing in tomorrow’s healthcare and retaining the province’s best and brightest to practice medicine in New Brunswick. The Executive Director will report to the NBMEF Board of Directors and will be accountable for the overall executive management and success of the Foundation.

Alyssa holds a Bachelor of Science (Biology) with Distinction as well as a Master’s degree in Communications Studies. She is a Certified Communications Management Professional (CMP®), author of two academic publications pertaining to excellence in public relations and organizational leadership, and is deeply passionate about protecting and preserving our healthcare system.

We are poised to take the Foundation to the next level, raise funds to support more medical students, and engage donors, alumni, and volunteers in our mission. Together, we are working toward a future where all New Brunswickers have access to the quality healthcare services they need, when they need them most.

Please join us in welcoming Alyssa to this exciting new role!

Sincerely,

Dr. James O’Brien & Jason Downey
