The New Brunswick Medical Education Foundation, also known as “Doctors for N.B.,” hosted its annual awards gala on Tuesday, October 15. A record $1.1 million dollars was awarded to 144 future physicians and nurse practitioners, each of whom has committed to working in New Brunswick once qualified.
This milestone event showcased New Brunswick’s future doctors, and the growing impact of the charity, which administers one of the most effective solutions to the province’s healthcare staffing crisis. The program featured guest speakers and performances, student testimonials and messages from the Doctors for N.B. leadership team. Opening remarks were delivered by The Honourable Brenda L. Murphy, Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick.
Doctors for N.B. is Canada’s only private, registered charity dedicated to recruiting and retaining future physicians, specialists and nurse practitioners. With millions in tuition relief awarded, 57 alumni practicing across the province and over 220 students in its pipeline, it administers the most successful recruitment initiative the province has seen.
This year’s celebration was generously sponsored by the Faye and David Huestis Foundation, AstraZeneca, RBC, Envision Saint John, MD Financial Management, the Community of Creative Citizens, NAAS Immigration Services Inc., Wells Private Wealth Management, and Joel McElhinney - EXIT Realty Specialists.
Thank you to all in-person and virtual attendees for making this year's celebration a remarkable success!
