Join us April 24 for a spectacular evening, honouring three of New Brunswick's leading health care philanthropists.
The New Brunswick Medical Education Foundation (NBMEF) is thrilled to announce its debut Champions of Care celebration and fundraiser, an experience that will pay tribute to remarkable individuals and organizations who have made extraordinary contributions to our province’s healthcare.

Featuring an exceptional three-course menu, live performances by Measha Brueggergosman-Lee and the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra, award presentations and a silent auction, funds raised through ticket sales and sponsorships will support NBMEF, a registered charity working to increase access to health care for all New Brunswickers.

​This event will take place Thursday, April 24 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Saint John Trade and Convention Centre (1 Market Square, Saint John, New Brunswick). Nearby complimentary parking is available to guests at TD Station, minutes from the venue.
Guests will receive a charitable tax receipt in the amount of $75 per individual ticket purchased and $420 for tables (seating eight people).
2025 Recipients
Dr. Donald Craig, Founder's Award Recipient
A native of Saint John, Dr. Donald Craig is one of New Brunswick's leading medical philanthropists. A graduate of Saint John High School, Dr. Craig attended Mount Allison University (B.Sc.), Dalhousie Medical School (M.D.) and received the Senator Emerson Award for best intern. He practiced medicine for 43 years in Saint John with his three brothers. He was the first Chief of Family Medicine and the first Chief of Emergency Medicine at St. Joseph's Hospital. Dr. Craig was part of the organization responsible for bringing the Saint John Flames franchise to the city and was a member of its medical team. Some of the organizations Dr. Craig has been involved with are: the Saint John Medical Society (President and Past President), the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick (President and Past President) and the Atlantic Health Sciences Corporation (Honorary Member) to name a few. Dr. Craig is the founder of the New Brunswick Medical Education Foundation and now serves in an advisory capacity. Some of Dr. Craig's hobbies include medical politics, investing, field hockey and model trains. With his wife Anne, he founded one of Atlantic Canada's most renowned kennels for boxers
AstraZeneca Canada, Impact Award Recipient
AstraZeneca is a science-led biopharmaceutical company pushing the boundaries of science to deliver life-changing medicines. David and Faye Huestis, Legacy Award Recipient
David Berton Huestis was born in Saint John, New Brunswick. In 1966, after completing his post-secondary education at Acadia University and Dalhousie University, David returned home to make sure a certain nurse he had his eye on didn’t slip away. While home, he joined his uncle in a small brokerage out of his house. After just a year and a half in the business, David purchased his first two brokerages – and has not stopped growing since. Faye Cameron Huestis (née Lebans) was born in Saint John, New Brunswick. During her childhood, her family lived in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and New Brunswick. She is a graduate of the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing, where she continued to teach for 2 years following graduation. Today, Faye and David live in Saint John, and David continues to serve as the Owner and Chief Executive Officer of the Huestis Insurance Group, the largest Independent Insurance Brokerage in Atlantic Canada, operating over 40 insurance agencies in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia & Prince Edward Island. Together, they have three children. Over the years, they have faithfully served many church, hospital boards and community organizations Currently David chairs the Audit Committee of the World Scout Foundation. Both David and Faye have been recognized for their exemplary contributions to their community, both receiving the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002. In 2011, David was awarded the 330th Bronze Wolf Award, World Scouting’s Highest Award, for his outstanding international services to the Scout Movement, and in 2012, he received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. In May 2019, David was awarded a Doctor of Humanities from Acadia University in Wolfville, N. S.

The New Brunswick Medical Education Foundation (Charitable Registration Number: 810513523RR0001) is a private charitable foundation dedicated to enhancing access to healthcare in New Brunswick. The charity raises funds to award return-to-service scholarships to medical and allied health professional students from the province. In exchange for tuition relief, these students pledge to practice in New Brunswick once qualified, creating a pipeline of talent to provide care for New Brunswickers for decades to come.
