New Brunswick Medical Education Foundation Scholarship

The New Brunswick Education Foundation was established to encourage medical students to establish medical practice in New Brunswick following the completion of their studies.

The New Brunswick Medical Education Foundation has as its purpose the recruitment to New Brunswick Medical Practice of New Brunswick residents who have completed their degree in medicine.

The following Scholarships are available to students who have been accepted to an undergraduate medical program and are residents of New Brunswick. Deadline for all applications is May 31.

Scholarships are for tuition only.

We are receiving quite a few transcripts of marks from students, without corresponding data. Your applications are not complete until we receive ALL documentation. We have no way of contacting students to advise them of this situation with only their marks in our possession. As such, these students will not be eligible for submission to our Grants Committee.

PLEASE ENSURE ALL DOCUMENTATION IS SUBMITTED BY THE ABOVE DATE AND IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, TO CONTACT OUR OFFICE (506) 648-7073.

Please note: this is a summary of Trust agreements and not necessarily inclusive. The Grants Committee have the discretion to match the applicant to the donor agreements. Students make one application.

SELECTION PROCESS

•Review all applicants and rate applicants according to an objective scale rating.

•Select and/or approve the scholarship recipients based on the rating of each applicant and the Terms of the Scholarship Agreement by June 15 of each year if possible.

•Advise the Directors of the N.B. Medical Education Foundation who have been selected for scholarships from among the applicants.

•Recommend the scholarship selections for a formal approval by the Board of Directors of the N.B. Medical Education Foundation as designate.

•The N.B. Medical Education Foundation will notify the scholarship recipients of their awards by telephone and mail.

•Determine who have accepted the awards based on criteria on applications within the 30-day refusal period.

•Offer any additional awards based on the 30-day refusal period.

•The N.B. Medical Education Foundation will ensure the renewable scholarship award winner will comply with the conditions of renewal (successful completion of the year and continues to plan to practice in New Brunswick) with a signed Letter of Agreement.

•Report annually to the Directors of the N.B. Medical Education Foundation on the final allocation and acceptance of scholarships and the projection of scholarships to be awarded in the coming year.

•The Finance Committee, in consultation with the Directors of the N.B. Medical Education Foundation, reserve the right to decide which scholarships can be awarded based on the market conditions and goal of maintaining the capital and some growth for future recipients.

•It is the practice of the Grants Committee to support as many New Brunswick students as possible. The Grants Committee has some flexibility with some donor agreements to make awards that are not entrance or renewable as they determine what best meets the objectives of the N.B. Medical Education Foundation (Recruitment, Retention and Excellence in Medical Education).
